Hypnosis is a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. Clinical Hypnosis is utilized by trained and licensed health professionals for the treatment of both psychological and physical problems. In this workshop, we will look at some basic hypnotic concepts and discuss ways in which the non-hypnosis trained therapist can comfortably utilize, and effectively integrate hypnosis concepts and strategies into traditional psychotherapy treatment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Define State Dependent Memory and discuss how this understanding can be utilized to help patients resolve a variety of problems.
  2. Identify the meaning and potential use of Utilization Theory.
  3. Describe the concept of Pattern Interruption and explain how this approach can be used to alter long-standing habitual responses.
     

Presenter:
Susan Dowell, LCSW,
has been training clinicians in Clinical Hypnosis for nearly 25 years, both nationally and internationally. She is an Approved Consultant with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and was President and Co-Director of Center for Advancement of Training in Clinical Hypnosis (CATCH). Ms. Dowell is presently the Vice President Elect of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She is also the Founder and President of Footprintings.com, an internationally recognized Three-Dimensional Treatment Model for Working with Ego States. Ms. Dowell has a private practice In Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnosis in New York City and in New Rochelle, New York.

This seminar is appropriate for clinicians with all levels of experience.
