This is a non-political course for clinical education that will provide an introduction on Jews and Judaism so clinicians can gain a basic cultural competence when working with Jewish clientele. Participants will learn about the Jewish experience of intergenerational trauma, and how it is transmitted through the generations. The instructor will examine the intricate facets of antisemitism and its profound influence on individuals and communities. She will also explore the historical landscape of antisemitism, from its origins to its evolution, as she delves into its impact on mental health, highlighting the psychological toll and challenges faced by those affected.
Transitioning to the realm of trauma, the instructor will then provide an in-depth understanding of Jewish Intergenerational Trauma – its definition, types, and enduring effects. The instructor will then explain Zionism, help participants understand the clinical implications of anti- Zionism, and conclude the course by introducing the GUARD system – a comprehensive framework for trauma treatment.
