THE NEW YORK STATE SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK LONG ISLAND CHAPTER WITH THE ADVANCED CLINICAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION PRESENTS:

CULTIVATING SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL COMPETENCIES TO ADVANCE CLINICAL GOALS

Program Description

Social-emotional competencies are intrapersonal, interpersonal, and cognitive capacities that provide inner resources to navigate and manage the complex realities of change. Integrating this kind of skill development into clinical treatment provides clients with an expanded repertoire of choices for how to think in new ways, take action, respond to the unfamiliar, and gain self-awareness through navigating the unknown in a safe, supportive environment with opportunities for self-reflection. The capacity to absorb and respond to new, unfolding scenarios and have the skills to respond effectively can be continually expanded, and this self-development applies to the challenges of change at any stage of life.

This training combines direct experience with creative, improvisation, and action methods-based exercises with a discussion of their impact, purpose, and clinical applications in individual treatment.
