In this presentation, the criterion for a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in combat veterans who have been directly exposed to death and dying will be identified. How military combat impacts veterans’ concept of navigating back to civilian life in the context of being exposed to death, dying, feeling guilt, shame for killing and direct exposure to killing.
The presenter will provide an overview of three (3) evidence-based therapies, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD, as well as another effective treatment for PTSD, including the Impact Of Killing (IOK), a moral injury treatment.
