56th Annual Education Conference
From the earliest days of theory development, intuitive processes have played a major role in the evolution of psychotherapy. Construction of a theory of the mind that incorporated it as a scientific methodology, however, wasn’t possible in the early 20th century. As science has evolved, a new paradigm with a foundation in quantum physics. makes it possible as we are now in the evolutionary moment. This presentation, grounded in research and clinical application, will discuss the role of intuitive processes in expanding conscious awareness in the clinical session. Our education, theoretical preferences, and experience all contribute to clinical understanding. While these dimensions of knowledge continue to expand, intuition as an unconscious process has not been recognized as a fundamental aspect of treatment. This presentation outlines research about consciousness, connection, and change that supports the importance of including intuition in education and training programs in 21st-century practice.
