Despite grief being something inescapable and universally experienced, it is often isolating. Grief is transformative. Life is not the same once you have experienced the death of a loved one, yet the world keeps on ticking. It is disorienting and surreal. The holding environment provided by a psychodynamic bereavement group serves as a sanctuary for grievers who find themselves unmoored and in pain. The containment, normalizing and validation of feelings inherent in a group experience mitigate the feeling of being othered. Grief has staying power and is likely a life long companion, but the scaffolding of a group can provide lasting comfort on the journey. This course will welcome you into the wonderful world of psychodynamic bereavement group therapy. It will help uncover the mystery of what happens in bereavement work and the power of the group experience in healing.
