THE ADVANCED CLINICAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION PRESENTS:

MANDATED IDENTIFICATION AND REPORTING OF CHILD ABUSE AND MALTREATMENT/NEGLECT - February 2025

Program Description

As announced on the op.nysed.gov website: “Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2021 amended Social Services Law § 413 require additional training to include protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually within the New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework. This law requires that mandated reporters, including those who have previously undergone the current training, complete the updated training curriculum by April 1, 2025.”

Will I receive a “Certificate of Completion”?

Yes! Upon completing the two-hour training and a NYS required pre/post-test, participants will receive a certificate of completion through the ACE Foundation’s Online Learning Center.

This course is required and Approved for:

New York State Licensed Professionals who are required to complete this training related to child abuse.

Out of State Providers:

Out-of-state providers are welcome to request a certificate upon completion of the presentation evaluation but must check with their own state licensing boards to inquire about whether or not the certificate is recognized as transferrable for CEs in their state’s jurisdiction.

Program Details

By the end of this training, you will:

1. Be able to determine if a child shows indicators of maltreatment or abuse, including in a virtual setting
2. Recognize the impact of trauma and ACEs on children, families, and yourself
3. Recognize the mitigating effects of the five protective factors on trauma
4. Recognize the impact of bias on your decision-making
5. Understand when you have a legal obligation to call the SCR
6. Recognize how you may better connect individuals and families with services
7. Know how to prepare to make the call to the SCR
8. Know how to complete the LDSS 2221A form
9. Understand your rights as a mandated reporter

Dr. Jaimee Arnoff is a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in teens and young adults, including those in the Deaf Community, at her private therapy practice in Beacon, NY. Dr. Arnoff has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults across hospital settings, residential treatment centers, and community mental health clinics with a focus on mood and anxiety disorders, as well as individuals experiencing suicidal ideation amd self-injurious behaviors. As the psychologist at James’s Warriors, a local not-for-profit organization, she has developed and presented on Teen Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in high schools and colleges, as well as community centers throughout NY. For the past six years, she has also been conducting court-ordered forensic evaluations through Family Court involving physical custody, domestic violence, substance use, and mental illness. In 2022, she obtained her certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy and is passionate about hosting workshops and speaking on podcasts highlighting therapeutic interventions for clients with chronic pain.

Certificate of Completion will be awarded once the entire course is completed, as evidenced by signing in and out and completing a pre-test and post-test. Certificates will be available upon completion of the post-test in the ACE Learning Center.
