ACE Foundation Programs
This required enhanced addendum to the New York State Mandated Reporter Training includes a focused component on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) to support accurate identification of child abuse and maltreatment. This additional addendum training highlights key physical, behavioral, and communication indicators, including unexplained injuries, regression, self-harm, and changes in communication. It also addresses caregiver risk indicators and emphasizes the importance of context, bias awareness, and trauma-informed assessment. Through applied scenarios, clinicians strengthen their ability to determine reasonable suspicion and fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities for children with I/DD. This addendum is only available to those who have taken their mandated training with ACE Foundation.

The Advanced Clinical Education (ACE) Foundation of the NYS Society for Clinical Social Work, Inc. is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed marriage and family therapists #MFT-0028; licensed mental health counselors #MHC-0045; licensed psychoanalysts #P-0017; licensed psychologists #PSY-0121; licensed social workers #SW-0056; and licensed creative art therapists #CAT-0120.
Out-of-state providers are welcome to request a certificate upon completion of the presentation evaluation but must check with their own state licensing boards to inquire about whether or not the certificate is recognized as transferrable for CEs in their state’s jurisdiction.
After attending this training participants will be able to:
1. Identify key physical, behavioral, and communication indicators of child abuse and maltreatment in children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
2. Explain how developmental differences and communication challenges influence the recognition and reporting of maltreatment in children with I/DD.
3. Apply knowledge of I/DD-related indicators to assess scenarios and determine reasonable suspicion of maltreatment.
Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed psychoanalysts, nurse practitioners and family and marriage/couple therapists, mental health counselors and licensed creative art therapists.
This seminar is appropriate for clinicians with all levels of experience.
Jaimee Arnoff, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults across hospital, residential, outpatient, and community mental health settings. Her clinical work includes both psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological assessment. Dr. Arnoff has also served in forensic and court-related roles, providing evaluations and expert input in matters involving child welfare and family dynamics. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based care, with a focus on supporting youth navigating complex emotional and relational challenges.
Dr. Arnoff has extensive experience training multidisciplinary professionals in the identification and response to child abuse and maltreatment. She has developed and delivered numerous professional education programs across areas, including anxiety disorders, suicidal ideation and self-harm, chronic pain, and complex family dynamics. Her work highlights the importance of culturally responsive and developmentally informed care across diverse populations.
Contact Hours will be awarded once the entire course is completed, as evidenced by signing in and out and completing a course evaluation. Instructions for evaluating the presentation will be emailed within 5 days of the course date. Once evaluation is complete, CE certificate will be emailed to you.
