An initial episode of psychosis typically is extremely disruptive to the life of young person and has the potential to negatively affect their long-term life trajectory if left unaddressed. However, a significant body of research has shown that early intervention and a targeted effort to assist individuals in remaining engaged in their day-to-day activities can have a significant impact on the person’s recovery, therefore allowing for the opportunity to live a full, productive, and happy life.
During this workshop, Jeremy will discuss the onset of early psychosis and its symptoms. He will speak about the research that has led to identification of best practices, particularly the “RAISE Study” that has informed the design of Coordinated Specialty Care teams. Additionally, Jeremy will discuss the modalities for treatment and support that has led to the strongest outcomes and he will provide examples of how they can be utilized. Finally, he will describe the OnTrack NY initiative and the services provided to residents of Westchester County and the surrounding area.
