ACE Foundation Programs
The workshop will address the value of integrating dream analysis into the fabric of the therapeutic process. The seminar will address key concepts in the use dream analysis including; the first dream, the symbolism and metaphor of the dream, the importance of the patient’s associations to their dreams, manifest and latent content, the life context of the dream, and the dream as a reflection of the patient’s engagement in the therapeutic process. The workshop will demonstrate the helpfulness of dream analysis in understanding the psychodynamics and internal world of two young adult patients who have been seen in individual treatment with presenting problems of depression, anxiety and conflicts related to separation and individuation.

The Advanced Clinical Education (ACE) Foundation of the NYS Society for Clinical Social Work, Inc. is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed marriage and family therapists #MFT-0028; licensed mental health counselors #MHC-0045; licensed psychoanalysts #P-0017; licensed psychologists #PSY-0121; and licensed social workers #SW-0056.
Out-of-state providers are welcome to request a certificate upon completion of the presentation evaluation but must check with their own state licensing boards to inquire about whether or not the certificate is recognized as transferrable for CEs in their state’s jurisdiction.

This seminar is appropriate for clinicians with all levels of experience.
Michael De Simone, Ph.D., LCSW, is a clinical social worker with over thirty years of clinical practice. He is a graduate of the Doctoral Program at the New York University School of Social Work. Dr. De Simone has taught a course on Group Practice at the NYU School of Social Work for several semesters and has a special interest in dream analysis. His paper “Birth Mother Loss: Contributing Factors to Unresolved Grief” was published in the Spring 1996 Volume of the Clinical Social Work Journal. Dr. De Simone is in private practice in Manhattan and on Staten Island. He specializes in the individual treatment of adults, adolescents and children and provides treatment for couples and families.
Contact Hours will be awarded once the entire course is completed, as evidenced by signing in and out and completing a course evaluation. Certificates will be emailed approximately ten business days after the completion of the course.
