ACE Foundation Programs
In this presentation Roger Keizerstein will address a wide spectrum of traumas through the stories of three renowned authors. He will examine J.D. Salinger’s combat experience during the invasion of Normandy and its aftermath. He will discuss and illuminate the types of trauma and post-traumatic stress unique to the combat veteran, including accumulated stress, moral wound, survivor’s guilt, blast-related traumatic brain injury and specific symptoms of post-traumatic stress due to poor re-assimilation from combat zone to civilian life.
Mr. Keizerstein will then visit and explore Truman Capote’s experience interviewing two death row prisoners charged with the murder of an entire farm family in Holcomb, Kansas. He will shed light on the various types of accumulated stress, lower case “t” traumas and symptoms of post-traumatic stress such as, accumulated Stress— A Writer’s moral conflict, over-exposure to traumatized individuals, addiction to emotional intensity, collapse of pre-traumatized personality, emotional dysregulation and regression.
Through the tragic sexual assault of Maya Angelou as an eight -year-old child, Roger will explain the types of post-traumatic emotional retreat and treatment interventions – both intentional and inadvertent. He will specifically explore titration and will further explain titration trauma treatment, ways to understand and work with dissociation and means of facilitating healing and resilience.

The Advanced Clinical Education (ACE) Foundation of the NYS Society for Clinical Social Work, Inc. is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed marriage and family therapists #MFT-0028; licensed mental health counselors #MHC-0045; licensed psychoanalysts #P-0017; licensed psychologists #PSY-0121; and licensed social workers #SW-0056.

Roger Keizerstein, LCSW, trained in child and family therapy at the North Suffolk Mental Health Center in Smithtown, New York and received a postgraduate certificate of training from the International Association of Trauma Professionals. He has presented on trauma throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Roger Keizerstein, LCSW has been in private practice for thirty-four years. He specializes in working with adults, children and families suffering from trauma and learning disabilities.
Contact Hours will be awarded once the entire course is completed, as evidenced by signing in and out and completing a course evaluation. Certificates will be emailed approximately ten business days after the completion of the course.
